Xbox Gameplay Chronicles: Rust – We Found Scuba Steve!
SEO Excerpt: From the depths of the ocean to the absolute chaos of the shoreline, we stumbled upon a absolute legend in Rust Console Edition. Meet Scuba Steve, the hero we didn’t know we needed.
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever encountered while patrolling the beaches of Rust Console Edition?
If you answered “a fully geared clan trying to rocket-raid a 2×1,” you’re close. But for us, the answer is officially Scuba Steve.
In our latest Xbox gameplay session, we decided to take a break from the standard grind of hitting sulfur nodes and getting sniped by roof-campers. We grabbed some flippers, slapped on a diving tank, and headed out into the deep blue. We expected to find some sunken crates. Instead, we found a legend.
The Legend of Scuba Steve
We were diving near an underwater monument when we spotted a lone player swimming erratically through the kelp. He wasn’t wearing a hazmat suit, and he didn’t have an AK. He was rocking full diving gear and screaming underwater callouts through his mic that sounded like a blender full of marbles.
Naturally, we did what any rational Rust player does: we didn’t shoot on sight. (Shocking, we know).
Instead, we swam up, initiated proximity chat, and thus began the saga of Scuba Steve. For the next two hours, this absolute madman led us on an underwater safari, helping us untie crates, dodge sharks, and counter-raid a group of players who were trying to farm the oil rig.
Pro Tip for Xbox Players: If you haven’t explored the underwater monuments in Rust yet, you are missing out on some of the safest components and scrap in the game. Just bring a combat knife to defend against sharks—and look out for friendly local divers.

The screenshots don’t do it justice. You need to hear the proximity chat panic to truly appreciate the chaos. Check out the highlights from our Xbox capture below to see how Scuba Steve saved our inventory, how we narrowly escaped a submarine torpedo, and the tragic moment we accidentally lost him in a fog bank.
